Introduction:

solvent dye is insoluble in water but easily soluble when it comes to organic
solvent.
According
to different types of solvents, they are divided into three categories:
- A series- This category of dye is used for dyeing
alcohol and is easily miscible with alcohol dye.
- O series- This category dyes are mostly used for
coloring fats and oils and they are dissolved in an organic solvent as
well as in grease.
- W series- This category dye is
used specifically for wax coloring.
Solvent
dyes do not favor ionization; their molecules are typically nonpolar or
little polar. These dyes can increase temperatures. During the extrusion and
injection molding process these dyes withstand 350°C. They are known as the best
dyes for coloring various solid materials such as nylon, polyester, acetates,
PVC, acrylics, PMMA, polystyrene, styrene monomers, and PETP.
Due to their solubility in
non-polar mediums, they are versatile. These dyes have various applications
such as printing ink, foil printing, ballpoint pens, marking pens, candles, and
other waxes, leathers, polishers, acrylic resins, wood stains, and varnishes.
These dyes have other uses as well such as color lubricants for automotive and
industrial cutting industries. Recently one more use is added to the list that
is in the plastic industry.
